Who LearnBeside is for

LearnBeside is an adult-managed educational service for parents and guardians of children in grades 2–8. Children should not create their own accounts. A parent or guardian controls the account and should supervise Child Mode.

Information we collect

We may collect:

• Your name and email when you create a LearnBeside account or sign in by email.
• A child's first name or nickname, grade, and selected illustrated avatar.
• Recognized math problems, generated learning guides, answers, progress, and app settings.
• First-party product analytics such as visits, traffic source, signups, homework uploads, feature use, and approximate country, region, or city.

Homework uploads and AI processing

Homework images and PDFs are processed to recognize the math problem and create the learning guide. LearnBeside does not retain the original uploaded file after that guide is created. The homework content is sent to OpenAI as our AI service provider for processing. The recognized problem, generated guide, and learning progress may remain in your signed-in account until you delete them or delete the account.

Free beta and payments

LearnBeside is currently offered as a free public beta. No credit card is required and LearnBeside does not collect payment information during the beta.

First-party analytics

We use privacy-conscious first-party analytics to understand visitor counts, registrations, homework uploads, AI guide creation, repeat visits, traffic sources, approximate geography, and product conversion. We use anonymous visitor and session identifiers and do not store raw IP addresses in the LearnBeside analytics dashboard. These analytics are used to improve LearnBeside and are not used for behavioral advertising.

Account email and communications

Your email is used to create and secure your account, send verification or password-reset messages, and provide essential service communications. We will not add account emails to marketing campaigns unless we separately request and receive the consent required by applicable law. You can request deletion of your account and associated email from Settings.

How we use and share information

We use information only to provide, secure, support, measure, and improve LearnBeside. We do not sell personal information, homework content, or learning data, and we do not use a child's learning data for behavioral advertising.

We share limited data with service providers such as OpenAI and hosting infrastructure only when needed to operate the service or comply with law.

Parent choices and retention

You can edit child profiles and settings, delete assignments, or permanently delete your LearnBeside data from Settings. We retain account and learning data while your account is active or as needed for security, legal, and fraud-prevention obligations.

Safer child profiles

LearnBeside provides illustrated avatars and also allows an optional private profile photo. Custom photos are stored with your private family account. We recommend using a first name or nickname only and never entering a child's contact information, school address, or other unnecessary identifying details.
